St. louis drug rehab or midwest drug rehab treatment programs center

If you look at the statistics of number of people getting addicted to illegal drugs in St. Louis city which falls under the state of Missouri you will be astounded. There are roughly six million people in Missouri and according to government findings almost 225,000 are drug abusers and out of this 60,000 were reported to be highly dependent on drugs and other illegal substances including alcohol. If you divide these figures amongst the three major cities of Missouri like St. Louis, Kansas City and Jefferson City you can get an idea about the drug addiction scenario prevailing here. Regarding treatment facilities or drug rehab centers, there are around 225 in total in Missouri.

When you check into a St. Louis drug rehab center to inquire about treatment programs being offered there you will discover that the percentage of residential or in-patient programs is very low. Therefore every year very few people are treated (roughly 10% of total drug abusers) because most drug abusers here are highly dependent on drugs and they need long term in-patient programs to get off drugs. Almost 90 percent of drug abusers have to opt for outpatient programs. In the present situation a St. Louis drug rehab center is able to offer long-term inpatient programs to only 3 percent of people addicted to drugs (as per government agency reports).

As per National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), every year, only around 40,000 people in the state of Missouri get drug rehab services. This means approximately 100,000 people (drug addicts) are still left out in the state and they are in urgent need of rehabilitation. Even if you look at the sparsely populated midwest region you will find the same situation though a midwest drug rehab might be in a better position to offer residential programs. This may be because the midwest which is away from the hustle and bustle of city life gives importance to wholesome family oriented values.

There are a number of reasons for which people move into the midwest region. Some may move here seeking drug treatment in any midwest drug rehab center because here the services offered are at par with any large city. Though the traditional 12-step treatment program is common there are also alternative programs. According to prominent rehabilitation professionals if people who are severely addicted to drugs wishes to achieve best results they should opt for long term drug treatment programs instead of the 12 step one.
